Sender One Climbing & Sender City - Santa Ana Reviews
I had a great first experience at Sender One Climbing. It's a large variety of climbing practices that anyone can do, and their kids section stands out. Staff was super friendly touring the place around and helping with waivers. I highly suggest all families, friends, and children visit here if you are interested in rock climbing. Thank you, and God bless Sender One Climbing & Sender City!
Feb 28, 2025 · Rainbow GoldThis is maybe the best climbing gym I have been to, and I have been to a bunch of climbing gyms across the country.Pros:Clean - one of the cleanest gyms I have been to.Super friendly and accommodating staff (we were visiting from out of town and able to schedule a lead check during our only visit - granted, we were there first thing in the morning and it was not crowded).Decent size gym with plenty of boulder problems as well as top rope and lead routes. The ice cream cone feature is what drew us in, and it did not disappoint. The nearby arch is also a cool feature. The kids area (Sender City) is amazing, and not just for kids. I imagine this space really helps kids gain climbing skills and confidence that translate to the regular climbing area. Kudos to Sender One for finding a way to have a kids area that helps prevent kids from running around the climbing gym, undoubtedly keeping everyone a little safer. Our adult group enjoyed the space as well - everyone should try it once, regardless of age.I can't comment on the training gym across the parking lot - we just visited once to do some climbing. Also, we went early in the morning, and the place was not crowded at all. I cannot comment on what the place is like in the afternoon. If it is like most climbing gyms, it probably gets crowded.
Oct 26, 2024 · Kenton AndersonI used to enjoy climbing at Sender One as a beginner because their routes were generally easier than other gyms. However, over time I found the gym lacked variety, lots of unsupervised kids frequently cutting into routes, and the extreme crowding and heat during the summer made it less appealing. What happened during my recent belay certification test ultimately convinced me not to return. The staff were noticeably unfriendly, especially if you hadn’t taken their paid intro class. The experience felt less about safety and more about pushing their own instruction program.
Jun 03, 2025 · Yuting Lin (Sophie)I've only been in the kids section so far, but it was great for my 8 year old! He was scared to go to the top at first, but then he wouldn't leave until he had done it.The one day pass is pretty pricey, a 5 day stamp pass is a much better deal. Everyone working here was super nice and helpful and the facility was really clean.
Jul 23, 2024 · Jackie FrenchNoob and group review:Came here with a group of 12 and it was a really fun activity to get into! Of course, rock climbing gyms aren't cheap but it's what all the cool kids are doing. Top roping feels a little bit more doable as it's quite assisted and there are more options for climbing.Bouldering is always more daunting and there are less options for noobs like me.Overall, the course to learn how to belay was easy and the whole experience was enjoyable.
