James Center Introduce
For residents across Washington, and particularly those in the vibrant city of Tacoma, having convenient access to a diverse range of retail stores and essential services is a cornerstone of daily life. James Center, located on South 19th Street, serves as a prominent neighborhood shopping center that aims to meet these varied needs for the local community. As professional content writers specializing in local business SEO, we are here to provide a clear, engaging, and factual overview of what James Center offers, helping local users in the Washington region understand its role as a key point of interest in their area.
James Center is a well-established shopping complex anchored by a Fred Meyer store, which is a significant draw for daily necessities including groceries, household goods, and more. Beyond its anchor tenant, the center features a strong mix of other businesses, ranging from financial institutions and dining options to health services and specialized retail. This diverse tenant mix positions James Center as a convenient, one-stop destination for many errands and needs. The center's design typically includes prominent monument signage and ample parking, which are crucial features for ease of access in a busy urban environment like Tacoma.
Customer experiences, as with any large commercial center, can vary. One review highlighted the convenience of the center for essential appointments, noting, "My kid's doctor is in the James Center thusly I end up going here at least once a year for his yearly but sometimes a few more times a year..." This underscores the presence of important service providers like MultiCare within the complex, making it a vital hub for healthcare access. However, the same reviewer also expressed frustration with ongoing "damn construction" impacting parking and timeliness, indicating that visitors should be aware of potential disruptions. Another review offered a more critical perspective, broadly dismissing such centers as "rundown shopping center that nobody wants to be at." This contrasting feedback is important for local users to consider, as it suggests that while the functionality of James Center for essential services is clear, perceptions of its aesthetic appeal or overall atmosphere may differ. It is important to note that the Tacoma Housing Authority is actively involved in redevelopment plans for "James Center North" (adjacent to this center), which includes infrastructure upgrades and potential for new mixed-use developments, suggesting a future evolution for the broader area.

James Center Reviews
My kid's doctor is in the James Center thusly I end up going here at least once a year for his yearly but sometimes a few more times a year... I just wish they'd hurry up with that damn construction cuz it's really impeding people trying to park and get to their appointments on a timely manner
Jun 21, 2025 · Eric MintelI hate these plazas, centers, pavilions... It's all the same words for a rundown shopping center that nobody wants to be at. I will always give it zero stars. Do better.
May 13, 2025 · Michael SavageKids had fun.. my daughter lost her IPhone for months and just picked it up Sunday... we went couple times searching for her phone while kids still jumping around. Pls be careful they do not clean good! So much dust, dirt, band-aids, socks and a pocket knife that we gave to one of the young workers... they say 3months... but trust me!! We have been in it.
Dec 10, 2024 · fuamai ativaluA little hard to find but . . . Great place for the kids! They burned a lot if energy jumping, swinging and bouncing. There is a small snack bar so you can get drinks. They have people working out there to make sure everyone is safe and playing nicely. Great experience! It will come in really handy once the rainy season sets in, too. Highly recommended!
