- Fitness & Exercise: Workout clothes, running shoes, activity trackers, and various fitness equipment.

- Gift Card Availability: Gift cards are available for purchase, offering a flexible gifting option for sports enthusiasts.
- Seasonal Merchandising: The store's inventory is regularly updated to reflect seasonal sports and outdoor activities, ensuring relevance for year-round needs (e.g., "The Summer Shop," seasonal sales).

DICK'S Sporting Goods, as a major national retailer, generally aims to provide a comprehensive and convenient shopping experience. However, based on local reviews for the Oxford, MS location, some highlights are perceived differently by customers. It is important to note both the intended features and the customer perceptions.
- Breadth of Product (Intended Highlight): The store's main strength is its sheer volume and variety of products from top brands. Customers can typically find equipment and apparel for nearly any sport or outdoor activity they're interested in.
- Accessibility to a Physical Storefront (Customer Value): As highlighted by a customer, the ability to "walk in to make a purchase" and "know exactly what you're buying 'works'" is a significant advantage over online shopping, particularly for items where fit or quality verification is crucial.
- Brand Availability: The store consistently stocks products from well-known and reputable sports brands, which is a key draw for many consumers.
- Cleanliness (Perceived Highlight): While not explicitly stated in the provided reviews for this location, general expectations for DICK'S Sporting Goods are a clean and organized retail environment. One related review for an Urban Air, for example, noted "clean bathrooms." However, concerns about merchandising (clothes not on hangers or in size order) suggest this may not always be consistently met at this specific location.
- Customer Service (Area of Concern): This is a recurring issue in the provided reviews. Customers describe "piss poor customer service," "terrible customer service," and a general "lack of basic customer service." Specific instances cited include dismissive attitudes, unhelpful managers, and a feeling of being ignored or not properly assisted. The sentiment is that a university town should have "top tier customer service representatives."
- Merchandising and Organization (Area of Concern): A direct highlight from a customer review notes "Ailes with clothes not on hangers or in size order is a real turn off and makes a simple purchase that much more difficult," indicating issues with in-store presentation and ease of shopping.
- Packaging for Online Orders Shipped from Store (Area of Concern): One customer reported receiving online-ordered golf irons "not in the original packaging" and "in an oversized box with a scrap of paper," indicating poor handling and packaging for items shipped directly from this store location.
For inquiries, store hours, or general assistance, you can reach DICK'S Sporting Goods in Oxford, MS, using the following contact information:
Address: 300 Merchants Dr, Oxford, MS 38655, USA
Phone: (662) 281-5814
It is always advisable to check their official website or call the store directly for the most current operating hours, especially around holidays, and for specific product availability. While the phone number provides a direct line to the store, customer reviews suggest that reaching a helpful representative or manager might sometimes be a challenge, so persistence or alternative communication channels (like their corporate customer service) might be considered if issues arise.
For locals in Mississippi, particularly within the Oxford area, DICK'S Sporting Goods presents a dual nature. On one hand, its undeniable strength lies in its vast and diverse inventory. For anyone in Oxford needing specific sports equipment, athletic apparel, or outdoor gear, the sheer breadth of selection available physically in the store makes it a convenient option over waiting for online deliveries. The ability to see, touch, and try on products, as one customer noted, is a significant advantage that online shopping cannot replicate, especially for items where fit is crucial like shoes or specialized equipment.
However, the recurring and significant concerns raised by local customers regarding "terrible customer service," disorganized merchandising, and issues with handling online orders shipped from the store present a considerable drawback. For a town that thrives on "walk-in sales" and welcomes "out of town visitors looking to spend money," the consistent feedback about a lack of attentiveness from staff and a difficult shopping experience (e.g., clothes out of order) suggests that the in-store experience may not always meet customer expectations. While the convenience of a local physical store with a wide selection is a strong draw, locals may need to weigh this against the potential for challenging customer service interactions. Ultimately, its suitability for locals will depend on individual priorities and tolerance for the reported service inconsistencies, but its presence provides a vital retail option for sporting goods in the Oxford, Mississippi, community.

DICK'S Sporting Goods Reviews
I make extra efforts to support local businesses and businesses where residents of Oxford work. Shopping online is my last option. Shopping retail is not always necessary, however, when you need to know exactly what you're buying 'works', it's best for both parties to go to a store front and walk in to make a purchase.Piss poor customer service seems to run rampantly in the retail shops in and about Oxford. I don't understand it. Retail business is somewhat dependent on "walk in" sales. It's not always necessary for the customers to walk into much of any local locations anymore with the advent of online sales. This, particularly applies to a town where Ole Miss is in full session, is a haven for out of town visitors looking to spend money. Have we lost touch with the charm of this historic town?Three things makes a store appealing to me. Customer service, selection and the availability of product, in that order. Greet me, ask if I'm looking for anything in particular and in what size. That's retail clothing sales 101. Merchandise your store. Ailes with clothes not on hangers or in size order is a real turn off and makes a simple purchase that much more difficult. If it's difficult, what's stopping me from going online and making a purchase? No '0' stars will work on this review but I would say F- on all six experiences I have had in this store. Don't care if it's a corporate matter or a local issue, it's an issue....period. ANY town that hosts a University should have top tier merchandise, selection and most importantly great customer service representatives. You can take that to the bank.I get better services from the auto parts store in this town. How does that happen???
Jun 18, 2025 · S EsterleyTerrible customer service. I ordered a set of irons from the website. They were shipped from this store. They did not come in the original packaging. Instead, the Oxford, MS store put them in an oversized box with a scrap of paper and shipped them. I called the store to discuss and the manager was no help.
Jun 20, 2023 · Josh ThompsonGreat collection of active wear, camping, sports, and hunting gear. Active wear is a bit steep priced. Clearance section was reasonable.
Mar 10, 2018 · Manasi SuryavanshiGood store and friendly customer service, however they do not answer the phone making it impossible to do anything unless you drive there. I sat on the phone for 30 minutes today as it rang and rang and rang. I need to make an appointment to get my bike serviced, yet it's impossible to do that without driving over there and wasting gas. What's the point in having a phone if you don't use it?
Oct 01, 2022 · Anthony GottlichMy sis ter and I went in there today and we had the best customers service I can't remember the guys name but he did everything he could to help us find what we wanted the store is well organized and clean I will be going back there
